Benzema and Atletico Madrid go head-to-head once again this weekend. It will be the first time the much maligned Madrid striker plays at the Wanda Metropolitano, with his last performance at the Vicente Calderon still fresh in his memory. A superb piece of skill which eased the pressure on his side and paved the way to making their second consecutive Champions League final.
"I didn't think about it, to be honest. I got the ball and I said: 'just keep going'. I didn't think I about doing this and then another dribble...but it was nice," recalled Benzema in the documentary about his career so far.
Los Blancos were trailing 2-0, and although they still were a goal ahead on aggregate, panic was starting to spread. That was until Benzema stole the ball on the wing, moved towards the touchline pursued by Savic, Godin and Gimenez, and made an impossible run into the box which ended with Isco scoring the goal which ended the tie as a contest.

Six months later, even Zinedine Zidane was still keen to relive the moment.
"I saw him up against three defenders and the first thing I thought was he can't do anything here. But with incredible technique it's clear that he can. It's a piece of play which defines him quite well," the Real Madrid boss said.
In a more serious tone, the Madrid No 9 had something to say about the criticism he receives from the Real Madrid faithful. In Benzema's opinion, they have less patience with him than his team-mates.
"I can't misplace three passes. If I misplace one I get criticised. But I guess the bar is set very high for great players," he said.
