The 24-year-old midfielder returned to Old Trafford in the summer of 2016, courtesy of a then world-record fee of £89.3 million. He was linked with a move to La Liga giants Real Madrid, an option the Frenchman did consider.
"To be honest, Real Madrid came to me and I was thinking to go there, and I was thinking to go to Manchester United too," Pogba told the 'Beyond the Pitch' podcast. "But I always felt it in my heart. My heart told me to come back here, I don’t know why, I didn’t know what was going to happen," he added.
Since sealing his transfer to the Red Devils, Pogba has scored 12 goals in 63 appearances and his performances have been at times questioned.
Despite carrying the burden of such a hefty price tag, Pogba has become a key player in Jose Mourinho's squad, but it could have been a different story if he had joined Madrid instead of United: "But I did it, and I don’t regret. I never regret my choice," Pogba concluded.
