Not Bale or Ronaldo, here is the real victim of Asensio's rise to prominence

It was at this point the fans at Madrid started calling for the inclusion of their number 22 in the starting eleven every week. Everything he touched turned to gold, his sublime skill enticed big clubs to come in for him and his contract renewal was brought forward. 

However, just like with the arrival of a newborn baby, the older brother seems a little bit jealous with the new "king of the house". Now, all attention has turned towards Asensio, who appears to have dethroned his friend as the fan's favourite.

Both Bale and Ronaldo have noticed (and continue to notice) that the Madrid new Madrid number 20 is a force to be reckoned with. The Welshman is the most likely candidate to have his place in the starting eleven put in jeapardy. His slow start to the season together with the continuous impressive performances from the Spanish youngster have made the Madrid fans turn their back on one and embrace the other. 

Ronaldo is also now closer to being made to play in a position which he has always tried to stay away from. "I have scored almost 600 goals but I will never be a striker", he once said. But the arrival of Asensio might ensure this step happens sooner rather than later for 'CR7'.

However, despite these two situations, Isco's position is one which has most been affected by the meteoric rise of Asensio. The former Málaga midfielder should continue working hard to be at his best and, at least, he can share the spotlight with his "bro".
