The Belgian midfielder has his sights firmly set on the Premier League title, but admits it will not be an easy task with most rivals making important additions to their squads this summer.
After Pep Guardiola suffered his first trophyless campaign as a manager last season, De Bruyne was asked about City's targets for the fast approaching 2017/18 Premier League campaign. He told 'Sky Sports', "to do better than last season."
"We tried to have a good season and we came up a little short. In the end, that is just the way it goes. But I think we are progressing as a team. Everybody came in sharp."
"There are six or seven teams in England who want to do the same as us, so it is never easy, but in the end we will try to do our job."
Manchester City continue their pre-season training with a match against Real Madrid in Los Angeles tomorrow.
