Mignolet's save from Vardy's powerful spot kick was impressive, but it turns out that the 29-year-old is no stranger to penalty saves.
Since joining the 'Reds' in 2013, Mignolet has saved seven of the 15 penalties that he has faced, a success rate of an impressive 46.6%, making him the most consistent penalty stopper in the last four years in the Premier League.
Let us not forget that Mignolet also spent time at Sunderland before joining Liverpool, with his combined record for both sides reading 26 penalties faces, 10 saved, giving him a success rate of 30.8%, something which puts him 9th in the list of goalkeepers with the best penalty records in the Premier League era (who have faced a minimum of ten).
Mignolet's record dwarfs that of the likes of Hugo Lloris and David De Gea, often considered to be the two best goalkeepers in the Premier League, with the pair having each saved just two of 17 penalties faced in the English top flight, a success rate of 11.8%. Whilst neither Petr Cech nor Thibaut Courtois, who keeps Mignolet out of the Belgium team, can compete with Mignolet either, with success rates of 12.9% (4/31) and 12.5% (1/8) respectively.
It is not as if the Liverpool man is 'filling his boots' against the Premier League's worst strikers either, having denied the likes of Diego Costa, Wayne Rooney, Luis Suarez, Theo Walcott and most recently, Vardy.
If Mignolet keeps out the next penalty he faces, he will move level with Mark Crossley in sixth place in the all-time rankings, though Dmitri Kharine's 45.5% success rate looks to be a record that will stand for some time yet.
