The Premier League boasts some of the biggest clashes between sides based in the same city. Derbies in Manchester, London or Birmingham are always entertaining encounters, but which tie is the most contentious?
'Sky Sports' worked out the most competitive derbies by calculating which have the closest all-time head-to-head league records and estimating the win disparity.
The Manchester derby is fourteenth in England and Scotland, with a win disparity of 38.6 per cent. The red half of Manchester has traditionally been more successful, winning 61 league derbies. City have emerged victorious 44 times, while the outcome has been a draw 51 times.
The least competitive clash on the top 20 chart is the one between Chelsea and Fulham. The Blues are the derby kings for dominance over a local rival, with a 41-7 derby win record giving them a 485.7 win disparity percentage.
Liverpool have the bragging rights over Everton on Merseyside with a 76-57 win-loss ratio, while the north London head-to-head between Arsenal and Tottenham has a win disparity of 25.5 per cent. The Gunners have an all-time 64-51 win advantage.
The Tyne-Wear derby is third on the list with Newcastle marginally ahead of Sunderland with 51 derbies won since 1898. The Black Cats, who were relegated to the Championship last season, have won 47 times.
Blackburn are currently two tiers below rivals Burnley, but the League One side snatch a narrow head-to-head victory with a ratio of 38-36 in what is the second-most competitive fixture.
The Black Country derby between West Brom and Wolves is the most competitive historically, with the Baggies edging their opponents by a slender two-game margin, winning 54 and losing 52 for a 3.8 per cent win disparity.
