David Silva and Raheem Sterling gave the champions a dream start in the first half. One which would see City enter the break with a two-goal lead and 86 per cent possession.
They would even continue their domination in the second half, extending their lead in the 54th minute.
The 'Sky Blues' won the ball in midfield, giving it to De Bruyne. The Belgian then ran at goal for a few metres before opening his body just outside the box to fire a venomous shot across the face of goal, past a helpless Lukasz Fabianski, to nestle into the far corner.
