After leaving Queens Park Rangers last month, Caulker had been training with League Two side Luton. "It's been a strange six weeks for me, training at Luton on my own. Then the phone call came in from Neil to come up here. I met with him last night and he blew me away," he told 'Sky Sports'.
Caulker is known for his extensive CV of English League clubs. Having started out his career with Spurs, he's since donned the colours of Yeovil, Bristol City, Swansea, Cardiff, QPR, Southampton, and Liverpool, where he even played as an emergency striker under Jurgen Klopp.
Having suffered from mental health issues, the defender is hoping this move will provide him with a fresh start - maybe even too fresh with the Scottish winter weather.
"It's great just to get a sweat on during training. It's been a great first day and I'm just getting used to the cold weather," he joked upon completing the move.
