Malaga put attacking in the hands of Brown Ideye and he has not disappointed. The Nigerian is desperate to battle to secure his place at the World Cup and insists he is not on vacation in Malaga.
"I came here because I wanted to play in this championship and with this club. Not for the city, or because Marbella is nearby, or for the weather. When the possibility arose to play for Malaga at no point did I think about those things. I hadn't played football for eight months and I was missing it. My son looks up to me because he is a child and he wants to be a footballer. I'm a role model for him and I need to play so that my son can watch me," he explained to 'AS.'
"Escaping relegation will be possible until the last moment. There are still 14 games left. We need to win a game. When we get this win, everything will change," he added talking about the team's precarious league position.
"When I was young I liked Drogba. I wanted to play for Chelsea because of him. I always liked Ibrahimovic as well. He's very talented, strong and is honest too, he always says things nobody else dares to say. I like that," said the Malaga striker.
"If we stay up and they offer for me a contract, I'll stay here. No doubt. It's very hard for a club to gamble on a player that hasn't played for eight months and that's what Malaga did. They trusted me and it's up to me to return that trust. If we get relegated it'll be very difficult because I don't think Tuianjin Teda will let me leave for a club in the second division," remarked the Nigerian on his future in Malaga.
