The Algerian, who dramatically handed in his transfer request on deadline day, was unable to secure his move to the Premier League leaders. It is believed City would only offer £65million for the winger whilst Leicester were demanding more than £80 million.
This failed transfer that would spark a supposed strike from Mahrez, who missed numerous training sessions and two games for the Foxes.
Claude Puel has since launched an attack on City: "We had some solicitation of another club, and to make solicitation just one or two days before the end of the transfer window, I don't know if it's normal."
"We're not a squad like some great teams at the top of the table. We need perhaps some other respect," he went on to add.
Puel also admitted that his team 'suffered' amidst the speculation surrounding the Algerian's future: "I cannot suffer this situation because other teams make this thing against us. It was important to stay united within the club, the fans, the players."
Mahrez has since been reintegrated into the Foxes side, coming off the bench in his side's 5-1 thumping at the Etihad. Puel will no doubt be hoping Leicester can put this drama behind them and kick on for a strong finish to the season.
