Iniesta is currently weighing up his future at Barcelona, with offers from Chinese sides on the table, and the Spaniard is widely expected to leave the club in summer. The midfielder put in a world class performance against Sevilla in the Copa del Rey final on Saturday, and Barca's president underlined how important he has been for the club.
"Iniesta has made his mark on an era of our club," he stated. "He is the most important Barcelona player. Messi is the best in the world, but we are also living in the era of Andres. Everyone loves him, he is a special player."
"I know that he has offers, but Barca is his life-long club."
Bartomeu said that the decision lays in Iniesta's hands. "You'll have to ask Iniesta what he's going to do," the president continued. "I know that he has offers, but he has to decide. He has a lifetime contract, and it's Andres who will choose."
With regards to the game itself, which was celebrated by Barca players and fans alike after their disappointment in Roma, Bartomeu was full of praise. "Today I saw the best team in the world," he said. "It was a wonderful exhibition of football."
Barcelona are all-but guaranteed to win a double now, as they sit atop the table in the Spanish league, with the end of the season fast approaching. Bartomeu gave his view on the possibility of a double, which hasn't been achieved in two seasons. "Achieving a double would be historic," he said. "Because nobody has ever achieved as many of them as this."
"Today's Barca game was magnificent. We have seen the best team in the world at the Wanda Metropolitano."
