In the last nine seasons, Ronaldo has won 15 official trophies to Messi's 23.

Since the Portugese arrived at the Bernabeu from Manchester United in the summer of 2009, he has won 15 of the 36 titles on offer, including this season's Copa del Rey and La Liga.

The 33-year-old has only managed to win La Liga twice during his time in the Spanish capital (2011/12 and 2016/17), despite averaging 1.07 goals per game in the competition. The forward has found the net an incredible 309 times in 290 games in the league.

Ronaldo also has a chance to claim his third successive Champions League triumph this season, with a semi-final clash with Bayern Munich awaiting 'Los Blancos'.

During the same period, Messi has won five La Liga titles (2009/10, 2010/11, 2012/13, 2014/15 and 2015/16) and is on the verge of adding another to that tally this season. The Argentine has also scored more goals than his rival in the league since Ronaldo's arrival, netting 324 goals in 305 games at a rate of 1.06 per game.

That's to say that Ronaldo only betters Messi in Champions League wins, with the Argentine coming out on top in everything else.

Following his goal against Sevilla on Saturday, Messi has now scored 40 goals in 50 games this season, whilst Ronaldo is currently on a run of scoring in 12 consecutive games, with 22 goals coming during that time.

That has seen the Portuguese equal his best-ever run with the club and has 42 goals in 39 games in all competitions, sitting five behind Messi in the face to be La Liga's top scorer.
