In the past, Sporting have publicly shown their interest in welcoming Cristiano Ronaldo back to the Estadio Jose Alvalade, where the Portugal captain left in 2003 to kickstart his Premier League career at Manchester United.
Before he eventually hangs up his boots, Sporting hope to see Ronaldo playing for his childhood club once more. To that effect, the Lisbon outfit posted a photo of a Sporting shirt with the name Ronaldo across the back.
The Portuguese club are not announcing the return of the Real Madrid ace, rather than just opening the door to former players who are no longer affiliated to the club.
"Will we have another comeback? As Cristiano Ronaldo thinks about it, come back!" Sporting CP wrote.
